The Dudeletter Review of Books: How to Beat Up Anybody: An Instructional and Inspirational Karate Book by the World Champion by Judah Friedlander

Recently, perhaps a symbol of on coming depression and a definite indicator of the stress I am feeling, I have been reading a lot of comedy recently. I am a huge fan of Judah Friedlander and most of you are too, even if you do not realize it. He is the nerdy, novelty hat wearing writer on the show 30 Rock. He has also been on episodes of WTF with Marc Maron. Aside from his character Frank Rossitano, Friedlander is simply funny and an excellent straight-man. This book is an excellent example of that. The joke of this book is that this dumpy, bad food loving, guy is the perfect embodiment of the standard Vin Diesel/Chuck Norris joke. He teaches karate and diet for those who want to be the best. He includes chapters on special situations like fighting a one armed man and why they are more evil and treacherous, how to fight a three armed man (which are less dangerous), how to grow and shrink, and why he spends six hours a day training strippers to fight. The pictures make this book more than worth it.

Enjoy
